Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Tres Leches, also known as Milk Cake, is a traditional dessert that is popular in Latin America. It is a moist and decadent cake that is soaked in three types of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream.

Here is a recipe for Tres Leches:

Ingredients:

·         1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

·         1 teaspoon baking powder

·         1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

·         1 cup white sugar

·         5 eggs

·         1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

·         2 cups whole milk

·         1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

·         1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk

·         1 1/2 cups heavy cream

·         Cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

1.         Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

2.       In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder.

3.       In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4.       Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture a little at a time, stirring until just combined.

5.       Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.

6.       Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

7.        In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream. Whisk until well combined.

8.       When the cake is finished baking, remove it from the oven and pierce the top all over with a fork. Pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure it soaks in well.

9.       Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

10.     Before serving, sprinkle cinnamon over the top of the cake (optional). Serve chilled.

Enjoy your delicious Tres Leches cake!
