Perkedel
Perkedel is a traditional Indonesian dish that consists of
deep-fried potato patties. The potatoes are usually mashed and mixed with
spices, such as shallots, garlic, and coriander, as well as eggs and flour to
bind the mixture. The resulting mixture is formed into small patties and
deep-fried until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Perkedel
can be served as a side dish or as a snack, and it is often accompanied by a
dipping sauce, such as chili sauce or kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). It is a popular
dish in Indonesia and is commonly found in street food stalls, restaurants, and
home-cooked meals.
Ingredients:

4 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled
until soft

2 shallots, finely chopped
·
2 garlic cloves, minced
·
2 tablespoons of coriander leaves,
finely chopped
·
1 egg, beaten
·
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
·
Salt and pepper to taste
·
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
1.
Mash the boiled potatoes in a mixing
bowl until smooth.
2.
Add the chopped shallots, minced
garlic, and chopped coriander to the mashed potatoes.
3.
Season the mixture with salt and
pepper to taste.
4.
Add the beaten egg and flour to the
mixture, and stir until everything is well combined.
5.
Shape the mixture into small
patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
6.
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying
pan over medium heat.
7.
Once the oil is hot, add the
perkedel patties to the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3
minutes per side.
8.
Remove the perkedel from the pan and
place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
9.
Serve hot with a dipping sauce of
your choice, such as chili sauce or kecap manis.
